Wolfgang Dürig studied Social Science and Economics at the University of Göttingen. He worked as lecturer in a Vocational Training School. Afterwards he was a researcher at the Seminar für Handwerkswesen at the University of Göttingen. Since 1987 he has been working as a researcher at RWI. His research interests cover the crafts industry, the dual system of vocational training, regulation respectively deregulation and the fluctuation in the population of enterprises. In the recent years new subjects like innovation processes, promotion of R&D and knowledge management in firms were added.
