Project: Two Studies on Temporary Agency Work

Project Duration

06/2011 - 11/2011 (finalized)

Commissioned by

Bertelsmann Stiftung (Auftraggeber)

Project Team (RWI)

Dr. Daniel Baumgarten, Dr. Michael Kvasnicka (Chief)

The project comprises two studies on temporary agency work. The first study provides a comprehensive overview of temporary agency work in Germany, its structure, development, and main actors (temporary work agencies, temporary agency workers, and client firms) and contrasts the employment structure and dynamics of this sector to that of the German economy as a whole. The second study quantifies the stepping stone function of temporary agency work in Germany, and discusses options how this function could be strengthened by different economic policies.
