Evidence-based Policy Advice
Mission Statement
RWI's economic policy advice follows two principles. First, it is theoretically founded. Second, it is always based on empirical findings that have been generated by using well-recognized scientific methods of analysis. Central to this analysis is to clearly distinguish between empirical correlations and causal effects.
One important pillar of RWI's economic policy advice is research projects that are funded by federal and local ministries or the European commission. A second pillar of RWI's economic policy advice is self-initiated research ideas. For these, RWI researchers select topics they are interested in by themselves and which are of high political relevance.
