Summary

Project A3 aims at improving the modelling of production technologies, with a particular focus on energy intensive industries. These industries are obliged to participate in the carbon emissions trading scheme established in the European Union in 2005. In order to adequately account for variations in production capacities, output, and technologies, we develop extensions, as well as alternatives, to classical production modelling approaches. To take particular account of long-term investment decisions with respect to the choice of production technologies, these approaches are combined with discrete-choice methods.
