Philipp an de Meulen joined RWI in May 2010 as a researcher in the research division “Growth and Cycles”. He studied economics (Diplom) at the Technical University of Dortmund (former University of Dortmund). From October 2006 to April 2010, he was employed as a research assistant at the Chair of Macroeconomics (Prof. Dr. Philipp Harms) at the RWTH Aachen University, doing his PhD. His PhD thesis is about the effect of demographic change on foreign direct investment. Due to his focus on international macroeconomics, his major fields of work concern business cycle analysis of the member states of the European Union. His research focuses on how demographic structure affects the risk of expropriation in developing countries.
