Dr. Torsten Schmidt

Deputy Division Chief “Growth and Cycles”

Torsten Schmidt received a diploma in economics from the University of Göttingen in 1995 and a Ph. D. from the University of Zürich in 2000. In 1997 he took part in the course for beginning doctoral students at the Study centre of the Swiss National Bank in Gerzensee. Torsten Schmidt joined the usiness cycle division at RWI in 2000. Since 2005 he is deputy chief of the Research Division “Growth and Cycles”. His main interests are international business cycle analysis, medium-run modelling and forecasting.
