Jun. Prof. Dr. Daniel Baumgarten

Daniel Baumgarten is an Assistant Professor of International Trade at the University of Munich (LMU) and researcher at the RWI. He studied International Economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University College Cork and received his PhD in Economics from the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics/Ruhr-University Bochum in 2011. From 2009 to 2013, he was a researcher in the RWI research department „Labor Markets, Education, Population”, which he again joined in 2017. He was also a visiting researcher at the Aarhus School of Business/Aarhus University and a visiting lecturer of Econometrics at the University of Magdeburg.

Daniel’s research interests are in the areas of empirical international trade and empirical labor economics, with a particular focus on the labor market effects of globalization. His research has been published in journals such as the Journal of International Economics, the European Economic Review, and the Canadian Journal of Economics.
