The KCB MobiGrow program is a five-year partnership between Mastercard Foundation and KCB Group targeting agricultural value chain actors to offer mobile-based financial inclusion and agricultural production information to smallholder farmers (crop and dairy) and pastoralists in Kenya and Rwanda. The program’s technical approach is built on two components: the first component of the program offers smallholder farmers and pastoralist’s non-financial services that include insight scoping of farmer producer organizations (FPOs) to determine their operation gaps, and issue tailored trainings to address those gaps, including governance and financial literacy. The program also provides inperson and SMS-based trainings to smallholder farmers and pastoralists in areas of production and herd management. The second component of the program offers financial services to smallholder farmers and pastoralists through the MobiGrow platform. These services include accounts, loans, and insurance products. The primary purpose of this impact evaluation is to rigorously measure and quantify the intended and unintended impacts resulting from the MobiGrow program.
