Dr. Gunther Bensch

Gunther Bensch is researcher in the department “Climate Change and Development” and “Environment and Resources”. His research focuses on development, energy and environmental economics. Special research interests include the empirical investigation of markets for environmental goods and technologies as well as the socio-economic effects of development measures, such as the dissemination of more efficient cookstoves. In particular, specially collected data from household and enterprise surveys serve as the basis of his research. 

Gunther Bensch has supervised field projects in various countries as in Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Rwanda and Senegal.

Gunther Bensch studied in Bonn and Lisbon and received his PhD from the Ruhr-University Bochum in October 2013. He has published his research findings in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and Journal of Development Effectiveness.
